How do I know if God is trying to tell me something? (Pt1)

The Presence of the Holy Spirit

In my experience, God is here with us.  He is present in others all around us.  I believe I have experienced God working in my life, directing me, in at least three different ways.

My post yesterday provides some  basic information about my thoughts ion this topic.

One way I have sensed God's presence in my life, is the Holy Spirit providing me support and comfort.  In 1994, my wife and I attended a weekend designed to help couples deepen their relationship.  This was a powerful experience and we found ourselves presenting as a couple at one of these weekends in 1995.  In preparation for the weekend, we spent time writing out our presentations using an outline to insure that specific topics were covered, key points were made, with our own story interwoven.  ,

An experienced couple, guided us through the writing process.  The presentations (talks) are read to insure that the overall weekend is able to remain on schedule.  We read the talks to the our guides many times, editing them, marking them up as we read to insure we properly covered the key points and to improve overall flow.  Reading the final versions to our guides we still stumbled when expressing the information out loud.

Our first presentation occurred immediately following  breakfast of the first full day of the weekend.  I was VERY anxious, actually ate very little, and was sweating prior to the start.  The time for that first presentation came, and sitting in front of about twenty-five couples we began reading the presentation.  I felt a tremendous calm come over me as my wife and I read the talks.  Our words, flowed extremely smoothly never faltering.

After the presentation, I realized that the presentation was God's and not my wife and mine.  He was speaking through us, the Holy Spirit working to deliver His message.  It was actually a very humbling experience.  You see, prior to that moment I thought we had put in all this work to share our story, it was about us.  After, I came to understand that the talks, and the weekend, was God's not ours.  He chose us to deliver His message to those couples.

Through the years, we were part of twenty or more of these weekends.  Each weekend was unique because different combination of couples and a priest presented and a new group of couples were in attendance.  The one thing that was always evident was that it was God's weekend, and we were simply a means of delivering his message.

Looking back, do you think the Holy Spirit may have worked through you to touch others?
